I've got a Windows desktop PC that is my primary gaming system, but I'm in the market for a new laptop and the MacBook Pro w/Retina Display is looking pretty good to me. I know I could BootCamp it and run Windows, but it appears that most of the games that I play from steam also have Mac versions. So my question is, if I install Steam on a Mac, will I automatically have access to the Mac versions of all of the PC games that I've already purchased, or would I have to re-buy them all again for the new platform? Originally posted by:I'm not familiar with Steamplay. I'm mainly thinking of the Valve games, HL2, the Eps that go with it, Portal, Portal 2, LFD1 and 2, etc.
AFAIK they all have a Mac version as well. Valve ports their own versions, I'm not sure if they are native ports or emulations, I think a bit of both. Aspyr has two Mac versions, Steamplay and App Store; Steamplay is cross-platform, the App Store version is not, there are other differences as well. If you have the PC version already on Steam, you also get the Mac version.
